The name Oro Nuku originates from two Māori words; Oro – to ‘resonate’ or ‘to have a clear sound’ and Nuku which in the context of this group, refers to the female Māori god Papatūānuku. Thus, it is the intention of this group, made up mainly of women, to provide a clear, informed Māori voice and perspective to issues related to public and Māori health.
